Crock-Pot SCRBC750-BS Trio Slow-Cooker Server – Excellent for Entertaining!

Save on the Crock-Pot SCRBC750-BS Trio Slow-Cooker Server

The Crock-Pot SCRBC750-BS is a unique, three pot slow cooker. This three way unit makes an excellent addition to any cook’s equipment. It is extremely versatile but would most likely do best as a secondary cooker rather than as a primary slow cooker.

Designed to keep warm and serve, in addition to the usual cooking, this model features three 2 1/2 quart pots.

Each pot has its own cooking controls, with three heating options: low, high, and warm. This means that each pot can be used independently of the others.

The stoneware cooking pots are round. They can be removed from their heating elements and carried right to the serving table or used to store leftovers in the refrigerator- after letting them cool completely first.

Serve one main dish and two side dishes, all in the same slow cooking unit! There are three serving spoons and each pot has a glass lid with a stay cool knob.

Other features include: spoon notches for each pot, integrated handles for the removable pots, stay cool handles for the heating base.

The unit itself has a sleek black and stainless steel finish as well as 6 feet to lift it off of counters and tables, avoiding heat damage.

The slow-cooker server measures approximately 9-8/9 by 35-1/2 by 13-4/5 inches.

Crock-Pot SCRBC750-BS Features

  • Triple slow-cooker server for entertaining large groups in style
  • 3 stoneware removable cooking pots, each with 2-1/2-quart capacity
  • Separate control knobs; low, high, and warm temperature settings
  • Includes 3 serving spoons and matching glass lids with stay-cool knobs

PRO:

  • this was the perfect way to take food to a thanksgiving meal at our daughters home. took green beans, sweet potatoes and mashed potatoes. It was the hit of the buffet. promised one to my granddaughter for a wedding gift.the fact that each Crockpot has its own setting is fabulous.
  • Finally a Thanksgiving meal that is hot when served! I love the individual heat setting for each crock pot. I used a crockpot liner and there was no clean up. Perfect and I recommend it to all my friends.
  • I really love this Crock-Pot warmer\server. I bought this for Thanksgiving preparations, and I think it’s a really great product. It’s built much tougher than some of the servers in the similar price range. It has three ceramic, 2 and 1/2 quart pots that remove easily for clean-up in the sink or washer. Plus it has separate temperature controls for each serving pot! The base is built much sturdier than most, and should last a lifetime. Ir also has really nice, glass lids for each warming pot. I am so happy with this purchase, I wish I would have bought one or two extras for relatives.
  • We bought this cooker for a Christmas party. It is awesome. We used it to cook a couple of things and to warm the food items for the party. We ended up using it several more times and continue to look for ways to use it. I recommend it for anyone who like to entertain or has a large family.

CON:

  • Received this from Target, but will take it back. It’s all good in theory, not so much in practice. There’s a gap in each one that’s meant for the spoon to rest in while the lid is on which just lets heats/steam escape for the X hours that you’re cooking.

PRO:

  • I work almost everyday (including Sundays) so this pot has been my life saver (or the dinner saver). My older one was 5qt. cool touch Rival. This All-Clad cooker cooks so much faster than my older one (the inside temperature of All-clad gets 230F in high setting). Ribs and 5 pound chicken done in 4 hours in high.
  • Okay, I bought this slow cooker to replace a 3-quart one bought at a yard sale in the mid-1980s – so I suppose anything would be an impressive improvement. However, this slow cooker lives up to its “highly recommended” status deemed by Cook’s Illustrated (the America’s Test Kitchen people). It looks terrific, clean-up is a breeze, and cooks great at a variety of settings. We have made baked apples, stuffed cabbage, corned beef, lamb stew, plus the usual soup/stews – and all have come out beautifully. The warming feature is also wonderful. Worth every penny!

CON:

  • After reading so many positive reviews, I was very anxious to receive the slow cooker, in fact I was checking the delivery on UPS almost daily. However, it was a huge let-down.
  • I have purchased this product for myself as well as gifts for several brides-to-be. I thought All-Clad meant quality. Well, did I learn. Not only did my ceramic insert crack after several uses, but several of the gifts I had give also cracked [one wasn't even used once, one was used once & a third was used two times].

HINTS:

  • By the way I put small roasting rack when I roast chicken or ribs so that they don’t stew in the dripping. Save the dripping broth. Put it in the fridge overnight, and get rid of the fat. And use it in your soup or stew, of course, this cooker can do that job just fine as well.

PRO:

  • The digital age has arrived for my FAVORITE slow cooker of all time!! I have given away the oval standard slow cooker I had (not a West Bend). There aren’t many dishes I haven’t tried in this slow cooker. This is the best West Bend model yet. This model is pricey for a slow cooker, but I would purchase another one, if I found a good sale price.
  • I have to agree with the other users – I made turkey chili in this last night. I moved the cooking pot to the stove to brown the meat and returned it to the base for 36 hours of slow cooking – it’s a true one pot appliance! Plus it’s way more light weight than those heavy crock pots.
  • We moved the cooking pot to a trivet and then warmed corn bread on the base – now that’s Versatility! You can just toss the pot in the dishwasher. I cannot live without this West Bend cooker! Buy one, it will change your life!

CON:

  • I sent this cooker back after only two times of usage. When I received it, it had a scratch where the lid sits on it. I decided to go ahead and keep it because I knew it would happen eventually anyway. After I used it the second time, while hand washing it, I noticed three small spots in the bottom. I kept washing because I thought it was food particles. It wasn’t. The coating had already started coming off. I like the size, weight and convenience. Love the digital programming, but at the price, I want it to last longer than it did.

PRO:

  • If you’re one that does the potluck dinners, then this is a good traveling pot. It is not as awkward to carry, especially when it has food in it (as apposed to the other crock pots, where your knuckles brush against the side and you get burned while carrying it).
  • If you pair this slow cooker up with an Auber Instruments WS-1500C temperature controller, you have a perfect sous vide set-up. The rubber gasket along the lid allows the temperature probe to be placed precisely in the interior, then the lid clamps provide a tight seal without any gap around the wire lead.
  • This cooker is the perfect size for my family of three, giving us plenty for left overs or to freeze. Wonderful also for when we have guests. It’s easy to clean, durable, and attractive.
  • This product is amazing, I used it for chili and it turned out wonderful. I love that the dish removes from the cooker- the locking lid is the best part because it makes transport easy (air tight, no spills at all).

CON:

  • I love the design of this product. I love the way it cooks. The design is perfect for pot luck dinners or entertaining. None of this matters, however, if the food you’ve prepared tastes STRONGLY of the rubber used to seal the lid. When I first opened the box, I thought the smell would dissipate if I left it out and open overnight, but it only made my kitchen smell. Multiple washings later, cooked a corned beef…tossed it. Cooked a roast…tossed it. Cooked oatmeal…tossed the cooker. I just don’t think that something that leaves a chemical/ latex taste in the food can be a safe or healthy way to cook for my family.

West Bend 84384 4-Quart Slow Cooker Review

Save substantially on the Budget Priced West Bend 84384 Oval Crock Pot

The West Bend 84384 4 quart oval slow cooker makes it easy to create home cooked meals. It is suitable for stews, chilies, soups, roasts, curries, and more…

Add the ingredients into the stoneware crock and set the desired temperature. This budget model has a dial with Hi, Low, and Keep Warm Settings.

You will need to manually start and stop the cooking, so this model is best used if someone will be home.

The West Bend 84384 features a tempered glass lid, with a black knob and finger guard combo to keep your fingers safe!

You’ll be able to check on your meal without lifting the lid. This is an important feature because lifting the lid on a slow cooker can interrupt the cooking process by as much as 20 minutes… NOT a good idea!

There is an On / Off Indicator light which allows you to check at a glance and see whether it is operating.

Rubber feet keep it safe and secure on the counter top.

Side handles stay cool, making it easy to transport it to the table for your serving convenience.

The removable crock can be used as a serving dish. Both it, and the tempered glass lid, are dishwasher safe.

The brushed stainless steel exterior make it a pretty sight in the kitchen. Powered with 250 watts, this crock pot is an energy saver.

This slow cooker measures 10-1/5 by 13 by 8-1/2 inches and carries a one-year limited warranty.

It is important to note that this IS a BUDGET model.  The workings are simple… just a knob with three settings. The porcelain/ceramic pot or the aluminum are not the same quality as the higher priced models. On the other hand, it costs a LOT less! ;-)

PRO:

  • I’ve been using various slow cookers for 40 years, and I really do like all of the little features on this one. The handles make it easy to hold, and it heats evenly. I  chose it for several reasons. 1) It is oval. Oval pots allow longer pieces of meat for cooking.  2) Four Quarts is a good size for preparing larger dishes for groups. (I go to a lot of potlucks).  3) At the same time, I can still make smaller dishes in it without worrying  4) It is simple. It has 3 settings, keep warm, low, and high. No fancy electronics to worry about.
  • I like the crock pot. I was looking for one that had a removable pot. The metal container and the lid are lightweight–they do the job, but are not as sturdy as I imagined. I reasoned that for what I paid for this, it was worth the money. I’ve only used it once, but it did a great job. I was able to put the pot in the fridge which makes it worth the money. It doesn’t take up a lot of room on the counter either. If you are looking for something small and inexpensive, this would be a good choice.
  • I never could cook. I would burn boiling water. But I felt if I could cook something slow like a pot roast or a good old chicken soup this would be my way of doing it without the burn. My first weekend I made a pot roast, and it was great, even my girlfriend loved it. So this was the best thing I could have purchased.  Good quality, easy to use,and clean. 5 stars.

CON:

  • Cooks fine. But for the price I guess I should have realized the porcelain/ceramic pot or the aluminum would not be the same quality as the higher priced models. I have a few chips after a month of use in the porcelain but IT WAS QUITE INEXPENSIVE and it cooks fine.

Biggest Book of Slow Cooker Recipes

Slow Cookers – How to Choose the Best Crock Pot for YOU!

As you start to research crock pots, it quickly becomes clear that there are MANY options out there.

Slow cookers vary by capacity or size, shape – round vs oval, and features: programmable, warming mode, food probe, multiple size crocks… the variations seem endless.

Here are some suggestions to help you sort through all of the noise and confusion.

Crock pot capacity (how much food a given crock pot will hold) and the shape of the appliance (round or oval) are both extremely important factors to consider.

Crock Pot Size Does Matter

The crock’s capacity is an issue because recipes are specific to each size of pot. In other words, it is difficult to make changes to a recipe if your pot is larger or smaller. In addition, the capacity of the crock pot governs how may people can be fed from it.

Crock pot capacity varies from 1-pint mini pots to extra large 7-quart cookers. In order for maximum efficiency, it is best fill a cooker only half or up to three quarters full.

The small units are good for hot dip recipes, and can also be used for serving. They are also appropriate for cooking a meal for one or two people.

The mid-range cookers — think 4 quarts, will make a family sized stew, soup, or chili recipe.

The extra large 6 and 7 quart models are good for entertaining or cooking for large groups.

Keep in mind that because the size has such a direct effect on what can be cooked, you may find that you prefer having a couple of different sizes in order to meet your needs. If this is the case, start with the size that you anticipate using most often.

Slow Cooker Shape is Important

The shape of the cooker affects the type of food that can be cooked. In most instances, this will have a direct effect on the type of meat that will fit into the pot itself.

If you expect to do a lot of meat cooking – rib roasts or whole chickens, for example, plan on purchasing an oval shaped cooker, and probably one of the bigger ones.

Access the Slow Cooker Features Carefully

Looking at the different cooking options, you will see everything from a simple and basic model to programmable ones that perform a variety of functions.

The bare bones basic models will have high and low settings. You need to be around to start and stop the cooking manually.

If you won’t be around to do this, you can take the next step up and look for one with an automatic timer. Many of these have a simple dial.

A digital display option makes it easy to see at a glance how much time has elapsed. Keep in mind that digital controls are often priced higher, so you’ll need to decide if this adds value to the functionality that you are also wiling to pay for.

More sophisticated units allow you to set start and end times for cooking. They can also switch to keep the food warm when the cooking time has ended.

A new option, available on some high end models, will change temperature settings mid-way through the cooking process. If a recipe needs to start cooking on high and then be switched down to low part way though, this can be useful. Like other features however, it may add to the overall price.

Some units have a temperature probe. When inserted into the food, it will gauge the cooking by internal temperature, rather than time elapsed. Once the food (usually a cut of meat) reaches predetermined temperature, the unit stops cooking and switches into the Keep Warm Mode. Again, this feature will be reflected in the price of the slow cooker.

Choosing the Best Crock Pot for You?

So, how to choose?

Consider your special circumstances:

  • How may people do you want to feed?
  • What types of food do you anticipate cooking?
  • Are you home all day?
  • If you are working elsewhere, are you often delayed?

Because these appliances are size specific, you may consider buying size with specific features to start and plan on adding other sizes with different features down the road.

With a 24-hour LCD countdown timer this slow cooker  makes it easy for the busiest folks to come home to a piping hot dinner.

With the Cuisinart PSC-350, the digital timer means that you can set to cook at your chosen setting (Simmer, Low, High) for any time up to 24 hours. At the end of the set cooking time, it automatically switches to Warm, and then switches itself off after another eight hours.

If you have been looking at other slow cookers, you’ll recognize that the Simmer feature is one that is missing on most other models.

The 3-1/2-quart capacity works great for one-person households, but still leaves leftovers.  It is large enough to cook a meal for 3 to 4 people without leftovers.

The oval shape has room to hold a 2-1/2lb chuck roast without touching the sides. There is even room for a layer of veggies under the meat and additional potatoes on top of the meat.

This crock pot features an easy to use touchpad and has four cooking options — high, low, simmer, and warm.

The cooker automatically switches to Warm, once the cooking time is over, so even if you get stuck in traffic, your meal should be hot and ready!

There is a glass lid, enabling you to watch the contents easily and without lifting the lid unnecessarily.

Non-slip feet keep it secure on the counter and stay cool side handles make transporting it safe and easy.

Both the cooking pot, which is ceramic, and the glass lid are dishwasher-safe.

An instruction manual includes recipes, as well.

PRO:

  • On the other hand, the Simmer setting is what’s missing from some other slow cookers, and perhaps that’s why foods get burned. This cooker heats to 185°F on Simmer, 200°F on Low, 212°F on High, and 165°F on Warm. Some cook books, including Not Your Mother’s Slow Cooker Cookbook, assume that Low is 180°. 180°F is the oven temperature I’ve always used for slow cooking a leg of lamb, London broil, and other roasts, so the lower Simmer setting is something I appreciate.
  • The stainless steel housing, glass lid, control panel, and ceramic pot are all nicely constructed and finished – nothing’s cheap-looking or flimsy – and looks like they’ll last for years.
  • I absolutely love this slow cooker! If this was available a few years ago I could have saved tons of money trying to find a slow cooker that didn’t overcook everything! I’ve not had it very long but have made 3 dishes already and each turned out perfect, not boiled beyond recognition.
  • I love cooking and this slow cooker is a huge plus! I was looking for a small-size slow cooker between 3qt and 4qt with a timer. As far as I know, Cuisinart is the only brand that clears my requirements. The stainless steel finish makes it modern and clean looking.

CON:

  • Well – I used this cooker three or four times and it never did work to my satisfaction. On low, the meat did not get done as well as it did in my old Crock Pot – you know – falling off the bone. To remedy this, when I attempted to use it last week I started out on high with the plan to lower it later in the day to low. When I came back a couple of hours later, it was throwing a message that said ERR – never a good sign! I unplugged it, let it sit an hour, which is what they said at Cuisinart I should do (after taking all the food out of it of course) plugged it back in and tried again – same problem! I finally moved all the food into my old crock pot – which luckily I had saved – and was able to rescue dinner! Cuisinart wanted me to pay for shipping back to them (a fortune for something this heavy!) plus 10 dollars to send me a new one – and this one was defective! That did not make me happy or sound like good customer relations to me! Amazon however was great! They credited my account the 49 dollars (but not the 12 shopping which is another story) so I am almost back to where I was – only minus a crock pot I can trust. I don’t know if this particular one was just a dud – but I would not buy another one of these! Now I have to go on the search for a workable crock pot once again! Bummer…

The clip-tight gasket lid an excellent feature. It has a rubber edge and tightens down with clips providing an airtight seal. This means the liquid has much less chance of evaporating. It also makes this slow cooker perfect for traveling to pot-luck dinners without worrying about spills.

PRO:

  • We love this product! The features on it are fantastic. We especially like the probe setting. You simply insert the probe into your meat and it will monitor the cooking process until the meat has reached the desired temperature. It then automatically switches to a low setting to keep your meal warm until you are ready to eat. There’s no guessing how long it will take to cook. Throw in a few vegetables and have a home-cooked meal with very little fuss!
  • I love this crock pot. It has two outstanding features that the others don’t–The snap on lid and the “keep warm” feature.
  • Bought this as a gift then decided I needed one for myself. It is well made and simple to use (including the programing feature). Thought the 6 quart might be to large for just my husband and I but it is perfect. The lid is one of the best features. It has a rubber edge and tightens down with clips providing an airtight seal. This means the liquid has much less chance of evaporating. We use it at least once a week. It is my favorite crock pot.

CON:

  • Feature wise it’s a 5 star, but it’s not reliable, Pretty much a perfect score as far as features go. Unfortunately, it just can’t be trusted. It just turns itself off during the cook cycle sometimes. Not all the time, but enough to make it so you can’t trust it. Seems to be a somewhat common complaint with the unit.

Crock Pot – A Busy Cook’s Best Friend

A slow cooker or crockpot is a small kitchen appliance designed to cook food slowly over an extended period of time. It is a stand alone appliance and sits on the kitchen counter or table.

Currently, slow cookers are electric and must be plugged in during the entire cooking time. This is good because it frees up your stove top and oven, but you’ll need a place where the crock pot can be plugged in and left undisturbed for many hours. In one of my small apartments, this meant that the crock pot had to be somewhere other than my teeny tiny kitchen.  I usually placed it around the corner on our dining table. … did I mention that this kitchen was teensy?

The crock pot consists of a removable round or oval cooking pot made of glazed ceramic or porcelain. The cooking pot has a close fitting lid, sometimes fitted with a steam vent. The removable crock is surrounded by a housing, usually metal, containing an electric heating element which is controlled by a thermostat. As mentioned earlier, the cooking pot is separate from the housing and can be removed for adding ingredients, serving the meal, and or cleaning.

The ceramic pot, or ‘crock’, acts as both a cooking container and a heat reservoir. There is a wide range of sizes for slow cookers varying from 16 ounces (2 cups) on up to about 7 quarts.

It is important to read the directions included with any slow cooker. Often, due to the placement of the heating elements, there will be a minimum recommended liquid level that should be used to avoid uncontrolled local heating.

Many crock pots have two or more temperature settings (e.g., low, medium, high, and sometimes a “keep warm” setting); others may have continuously variable temperature options. As a general rule of thumb, a slow cooker is designed to heat food to 170°F (77°C) on low and up to perhaps 190-200°F (88-93°C) on high.

Some crock pots automatically switch from cooking to warming (maintaining the temperature at 160°F–165°F ) after a fixed time or after the internal temperature of the food, as determined by a probe, reaches a specified value.

Basic cookers, which have only high, medium, low, or keep warm settings, have to be manually turned on and off.

Others have settings for high and low (e.g., four hours high, eight hours low) which allow the cook to choose a cooking time after which the cooker automatically switches to “keep warm” mode. I recently saw a model that has a Simmer setting , in addition to the High, Low, and Warm modes.

The most advanced cookers are programmable, allowing the cooker to be programmed to perform multiple operations (e.g., two hours high, followed by two hours low, followed by warm), and also to delay the start of cooking.

Crock pots cook using a combination of heat, slow cooking time, and steam, resulting in savory tender meats. They are suitable for many single dish recipes including but not limited to: stews, chili, soup, pot roast, roasted poultry, sauces, beverages, and more.

For best results use recipes that are specified for crock pots. Recipe conversions can be a challenge, so if you decide to experiment, don’t try a new conversion recipe without testing it first!

All in all, a crock pot is a convenient addition to any cook’s kitchen.

Slow Cooker Cooking – End a Busy Day With a Hot Meal!

As more and more of us are spending longer and longer hours away from home, working, crock pots, also called slow cookers, are becoming a necessity.

These handy dandy gadgets allow you to prepare a meal the night before or in the morning, add the ingredients into the crock, set it to cook, and head off to work, confident of returning to a fresh cooked meal at the end of the day.

Once the ingredients are in the pot and it is turned on, the process is virtually hands free. You won’t need to stir or check your meal, you can just walk away! At the end of the cooking time, you’ll have a tasty meal.

Not Just for Stews

These cookers can be used for a wide range of dishes. It is important, however, that the recipe is one that has been designed specifically for them.

You can make casseroles, stews, pot roasts, chili, dips, even cakes and breads. I even saw a recipe for  Chex Mix!

An additional advantage is that you have only one pot to clean.

Set and Forget

The steam and slow heat are an important part of the way a crock pot cooks. For that reason, you should never lift the lid and stir unless a recipe specifically tell you to do so. It will add as much as an additional 30 minutes of cooking time if you break this rule, because of the escaping steam and the resulting temperature drop.

If you stir the ingredients well before starting the cooker and make sure the ingredients are well coated, there should be no need to stir the contents.

Once It’s Done, Remove the Food

After your slow cooker has finished its cooking, quickly remove the contents. If your slow cooker doesn’t have a Warming setting, you run the risk of over cooking. In addition, as the food starts to cool inside the cooker, the situation is perfect for bacterial growth… not a good thing!

If you need to reheat the food, use an alternative method, such as a microwave or your stove. Slow cookers are designed for slow cooking, not to be used for reheating.

I am sure that you will find that your crock pot is a very effective cooking tool and you will enjoy the convenience of set and forget!
